AMADEUS, the 1984 film about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart won eight Academy Awards. For good reason. Best Picture, as well as Best Actor, Director, Screenplay, Cinematography, Costumes, Sound, and Art Direction. This brilliantly crafted film tells the, partially true, partially imagined, story of Mozart and his rival Antonio Salieri. With exquisitely rendered performances of Mozart’s music throughout. Following the film, Orcas Choral Society director and quasi-accurate music historian Bruce Langford will talk briefly about what is true and not true in the film. In some instances illustrating that the truth is even stranger than fiction.
