Ali Walker has lived on Orcas full time since 2017, though she spent a month every summer on the island since 1997, and lived in the San Juans (Shaw, Orcas and San Juan) between 1996 and 2001. She has always loved the sense of community the islands bring, and was delighted to have the opportunity to move full time to Orcas to pursue a relationship with her now husband, who grew up here.

Ali started quilting in 2010 when she took a year off  of  college. It has been her passion ever since.  She  tends  to work in a more organic way, playing with colors and shapes, and not following a pattern. Her work· may be classified under a Modern or lmprov quilting label, but she's just doing what brings her joy, and isn't too worried about the label. One of her works was recently juried into the International Quilt and Fiber Art Festival in Everett.

When she's not quilting, you can find Ali doing cold dips in the Salish Sea or on walks with her dog Paige.
