Genealogy Group

Genealogy (in many different forms) has been of interest to a number of Orcas Islanders for a long time. A few years ago a group of people started getting together on a regular basis at the library to learn how to access the library’s free version of Ancestry.com, share research problems and successes, learn new skills and listen to different speakers on a variety of genealogy topics.

Currently the group is meeting quarterly, in-person and via zoom (thanks to the support of the library) and the meetings are more casual. People share their current projects, ask for advice or help, and enjoy being together with fellow genealogy enthusiasts.

Tuesday, May 14, from 1-3, in the Orcas Island Public Library Community Room is the next quarterly meeting. It will be informal but a short discussion about family blogs, Facebook pages or other ways to share information with your own family will be part of the time together. For more information about attending (including via Zoom), please contact Kathi Ciskowski at ciskokid@rockisland.com.
